Academy of Molecular Pathology and Personalized Medicine, Brain Tumors

Dear colleagues,

We invite you to the Academy of Molecular Pathology and Personalized Medicine on the topic of "Brain Tumors" on June 9-10, 2023, at "Roslin Dimyat Hotel", Varna.

The academy will be held over two days.

The first day will be in a multidisciplinary format, which will include lectures by leading specialists from all medical specialties involved in the diagnosis and complex treatment of brain tumors. This module will be suitable for specialists and trainees in general and clinical pathology, medical genetics, molecular biology, imaging, neurosurgery, medical oncology, pediatric oncology, radiotherapy.

The second day will be dedicated to specialized training in molecular pathology and precise diagnosis of brain tumors in adults and children. The course includes a study of the pathology of CNS tumors with an emphasis on the classification of primary brain tumors, WHO, 2021. and the general changes in the structure, nomenclature, diagnostic rules, determination of the degree of malignancy and of the specific changes in the separate taxonomic categories of brain tumors. An important place is occupied by the role of molecular pathology /immunohistochemical and genetic/ studies, a basis for building a modern integrative diagnosis.

In the framework of the course, in addition to lecture material, practical training is also conducted with the demonstration of histological preparations from clinical cases and digital pathology. The course is designed for PhD students, interns and clinical pathologists to update their knowledge in the field of neuro-oncology, which is a dynamic and rapidly changing medical discipline. It is also suitable for specialists in neurosurgery, imaging and medical oncology.

Academy participants will receive certificates.

We are expecting you!

Dr. Jasmina Koeva-Balabanova

Chairman of the Board of Directors of BAPPM

Day Two: Specialized training designed for PhD students, interns and clinical pathologists to update their knowledge in the field of neuro-oncology, which is a dynamic and rapidly changing medical discipline.

It is also suitable for neurosurgery, imaging and medical oncology majors.

Includes: histological and immunohistochemical characterization of glial tumors in adults and children. The genetic profile—leading evidence for diagnosis and differential diagnosis between astrocytomas and oligodendrogliomas. Importance of IXX studies and especially the genetic profile for the diagnosis, determination of the degree of malignancy and implementation of appropriate therapy in gliomas. Subclassification of ependymal tumors and prognostic significance of their genetic alterations. Medulloblastoma - terminologically stable tumor, but with alternative 2 types of classifications - based on histological and genetic parameters. Identification of other embryonic pediatric tumors using their molecular pathological lesions. IXX studies - decisive for determining the primary tumor in metastatic tumors and useful for the differential diagnosis with primary glial and meningeal brain tumors. Main characteristics of subtypes of meningiomas according to : a/ histological structures and b/ degree of malignancy.
