The first Balkan School of Molecular Pathology, organized by BAPPM and Medical University, Pleven, will take place on October 26 in the Opal Hall, Ramada Hotel, Sofia.

General information:

Molecular pathology is a new discipline in pathology that is focused on the study and diagnosis of disease by examining specific molecules in organs, tissues or body fluids. Molecular pathology brings together practical aspects of general and clinical pathology, molecular biology, biochemistry, proteomics and genetics and therefore, it is sometimes defined as an interdisciplinary science. Its multidisciplinary nature is aimed at the sub-microscopic aspects of diseases. Most often, molecular pathology is associated with oncological and infectious diseases, but in recent years it has been used in precision diagnostics in more and more therapeutic areas, such as and in modern screening programs.

With the organization of the First Balkan School of Molecular Pathology, BAPPM and the Medical University of Pleven are starting a special program for training and improving the qualifications of medical specialists in the fields of precision diagnostics and personalized medicine, which are currently not represented in the curricula of medical universities and standard programs for SDO, in which leading scientists and teachers from the world will participate.

The leading guest lecturer of the First Balkan School of Molecular Pathology will be Prof. Dr. George J. Netto, head of the Department of Clinical Pathology at the University of Alabama, USA. Clinical pathology. Lecturers from Pleven Medical University, Faculty of Medicine, Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", as well as from diagnostic and commercial structures.

At the end of the training, the students will receive certificates.
