The Academy of Molecular Uropathology, organised by BAPPM and Medical University Pleven, was held on 17th and 18th September, 2021 in Panorama Hall, Inter Expo Center, Sofia. It was the third event of the special training program developed by BAPPM and Pleven Medical University for raising the qualification of specialists, trainees and doctors in the fields of precision diagnostics and personalised medicine, which are not included in the lecture course and the programs for SDO of the Medical Universities, but are entering more and more widely in the medical science and practice. The main focus of the Academy of Molecular Uropathology was the possibilities of digital pathology.
A special guest of the Academy was Prof. George J. Netto - Head of the Department of Pathology at the University of Birmingham, Alabama, USA and Editor-in-Chief of the journal Modern Pathology. He gave a state-of-the-art lecture on "The Possibilities of Molecular Uropathology" and answered all questions. The lecture course was continued by leading experts from Bulgaria such as Assoc. Prof. Dr. Julian Ananiev - Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Thracian University, Stara Zagora, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Veselin Belovezhdov - Head of the Department of Pathology, Medical University of Plovdiv, Assoc. Dr. Svitlana Bachurska - Head of Clinic of Clinical Pathology, SBALO, Sofia, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ivan Ivanov - Head of Immunohistochemistry Laboratory and Dr. Milen Karaivanov from the Medical University, Pleven. The moderator of the event was Prof. Dr. Savelina Popovska - Head of the Department of Pathological Anatomy, Medical University, Pleven.
