EURAXESS TOP IV Net Wide Train-the-Trainer training’ host is Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. It is the first higher educational institution in Bulgaria. Its history is an embodiment and a continuation of the centurylong cultural and educational tradition of the Bulgarian nation. “The University” as it is its popular name, was established in 1880 and was built with the financial aid of two donors – the brothers Evlogiy and Hristo Georgievs and is one of the architectural landmarks of the city of Sofia.
Gradually, the University has become one of the most highly reputable centers of science on the Balkans. Today it is the biggest and most prestigious scientific hub in the country. It has 16 faculties with 119 special subjects being taught.
Sofia University is the leader in Bulgaria in terms of number of participants in the students’ and lecturers’ mobility and the implementation of the idea of European space in the domain of university education.
